  • New York Consideration : Under current home care agency regulations in New York, there is a Certificate of Need needed to operate and there are currently challenges to prove that need in 20 counties which we are currently not considering candidates. There are however 42 counties in the state that have a presumed need. Licensing requirements state that a full-time nurse must be on staff as a W-2 employee and all caregivers must be certified aides. If you need a complete list of counties where we can develop and questions regarding licensing, please contact us.
  • Oklahoma Consideration : The State of Oklahoma requires any person applying to take a test and there are only 4 schools in the state that offer the classes with limited offerings. If someone understands the working of the health system, it's possible to get licensed. Please contact us for more details.

Semi-Absentee Ownership : Considered ; Semi-absentee for Homewatch involves hiring 2 full-time roles since they won't be fulfilling one of them. Depending on where they are located that will add $50k- $100k to the investment level. Semi-absentee owners need to be involved with the launch of the business because they have to apply for their home care license (if their state requires one), getting an office space and still going through our training program (5 weeks total/25 hrs dedication a week/1 of those weeks in Denver, the other 4 remote). After that it's of course general oversight of those 2 roles (Sales/Marketing and Operations).

Buying a Franchise Guide: What is a Franchise Disclosure Document?

When evaluating a franchise opportunity, reading and understanding the current version of their FDD is a necessity. Considering the benefits of franchising, such as established brand recognition and support from the franchisor, it's important to also take into account franchise fees and franchising royalty fees. Since most franchisors are privately owned companies, the current versions of their FDDs are typically not available unless requested directly from them.
