Kona Ice

The concept for the Kona Ice franchise was conceived when its founder, Tony Lamb, had a bad experience with a dirty ice cream truck. He wanted to fix this problem with a brand that offers a quality product, friendly and put together drivers, and clean trucks. The fist Kona Ice truck drove around Boone County, Kentucky, in June 2007. After coming up with a business model and the first installment of the Flavorwave, Lamb awarded the brand's first franchise in 2008. If you are looking to be your own boss with a flexible schedule at an affordable price, then the Kona Ice franchise could be for you.

Kona Ice Franchise Cost and Requirements for 2024

Background

Ice cream and shaved iced have been popular with Americans and the world for a long time. The history of shaved ice can be traced back to Roman Emperor Nero in 27 B.C. when he told his workers to bring back snow form the mountains, which was then flavored with a fruit and honey mixture. Fast forward to today, and ice cream is a booming billion dollar industry. Annually, Americans eat about 23 pounds of ice cream and frozen desserts. Have you considered getting a piece of this billion dollar industry with a mobile unit that allows you to be your own boss with a flexible schedule at an affordable price? The Kona Ice franchise could be for you. The concept for the shaved iced franchise was conceived when its founder Tony Lamb had a bad experience with a dirty ice cream truck, causing him to want to make a brand with clean trucks that are driven by presentable drivers and offer a quality product. The first Kona Ice truck was driven around Boone County, Kentucky, in June 2007, and the brand awarded its first franchise a year later. The brand has grown arcos the U.S.  and offers its franchise owners schedule flexibility and a great opportunity to invest in the industry at a minimal cost. In addition to trucks, franchise owners also have the opportunity to set  up a kiosk, cart or trailer if they think the truck is too big for them. If you are looking to have a flexible schedule with a mobile unit that allows you to meet customers where they, then the Kona Ice franchise can be for you.

When evaluating a franchise opportunity, reading and understanding the current version of their FDD is a necessity. Considering the benefits of franchising, such as established brand recognition and support from the franchisor, it's important to also take into account franchise fees and franchising royalty fees. Since most franchisors are privately owned companies, the current versions of their FDDs are typically not available unless requested directly from them.
